     Nevada has a very rich history, filled with tales of giant cannibles, man-eating beasts, and vivid stories of the first exploits into the Great Basin. When you think of waterfowling, many places come to mind.
I think of Arkansas and flooded timber, cornfields in Iowa, and winterwheat crawling with canadian geese somewhere far north. Not many people think of nevada as a waterfowlers dream destination, but lets go back 3000 years to the Loveland culture of Northern Nevada, and take a look at a small part of our natural history.

WATERFOWLERS PREPARE A SPECIAL GIFT FOR DEPLOYED SOLDIER AND HIS DAUGHTER

Staff Sergeant James Bent (Jim) of the United States Army is no ordinary soldier. SSgt. Bent is currently deployed in the Kandahar region of Afghanistan. SSgt.Bent has been deployed seven times overseas from Operation Able Sentry (Macedonia), Operation Joint Endevour (Bosnia), Operation Intrinsic Action (Kuwait), as well as two deployments to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom and two deployments to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom. All the while being a husband, sole provider, and father of four daughters.

Here is what has developed from Gov. Mitch Daniels conservation push.

Wabashiki Fish and Wildlife Area, a new Division of Fish and Wildlife property being developed near Terre Haute, will open to the public Sunday, Aug. 15.

The current site encompasses 2,400 acres along the west bank of the Wabash River between Terre Haute and West Terre Haute.
