Eastern Ontario....snow-ice pellets-freezing rain- then just rain all in 24 hours......it is going to be a challenge to keep the water open again the next 48hours....a couple of cold nights ahead....before it warms up again on the weekend with more rain....each weather event we lose birds....the geese were really moving on Sunday.......
-
Eastern Ontario....weather patterns for the next week....will be more like November but still above normal values....looks like the next week will have rain...sunshine..snow flurries....light ice formation overnight....Sunday through Tuesday....it 's that time of year....still lots of opportunities to hunt birds but.....scouting and hard work pay dividends....with a little bit of luck mixed in
-
looks like sunshine till next Thursday...........dipping into freezing temperatures at night and warming up nicely in the late Autumn sunshine.....expecting birds to transition along as migratory influences are strong at this time of year....still great numbers of geese within our watersheds......mallards as well.....and you can always count on the long necks and the greenheads till the end....
-
Duck season opened for the 2nd split today. Lots of birds in the area :)
-
Eastern Ontario....southern waterfowl district.....looks like the high pressure systems are going to give us some sunshine and steady temperatures for the next week.....should hold the birds in the region..especially the mallards and the geese....grain corn harvest...continues....opening up a lot of food resources for the greenheads and the long necks
-
South Western PA.....Seeing decent numbers of both geese and ducks...Having a warm up this week...hopefully we'll still have a good opening day for ducks.
-
Eastern Ontario.....heading towards some very mild temperatures for the begiining of the week.... 18C or 65 F......bird numbers are very high.....the geese are everywhere....northern mallards and the divers....this past week has seen traditional temperatures of above freezing ( daytime ) and below freezing (at night)........looks like the week to trade in the blaze orange for camo

Things are lining up nicely here on the East Coast. Birds are around, seasons start this Sat (10th) in NC and MD. VA starts on the 17th, should be a good second split.
CJ Howard I hope so too, I will probably be up in N.C. the weekend after Thanks Giving. Have talked to some guys that I hunt with up there and they said the birds were pretty thick maybe it will stay that way.193 days ago -
there are a lot of birds in the southern waterfowl district of Ontario after a few days of colder temperatures and a strong wind from the north.....warmer days ahead temperatures of 16C this weekend.......
-
-7C over night.............. wind was from the north all day and the birds are moving ........Eastern Ontario
-
The St Lawrence River ....which divides Canada and the United States is at a fifty year low for water levels.....not surprising after the summer and early autumn .......and with no snow pack to speak of for the spring of 2012
-
looks like some greenheads moving into the region......eastern Ontario

I agree with you Jeremy. the weather in the early season was a little crazy and I think it had an effect on the birds.I am hoping the late season will be good.I agree about the geese.I'm still seeing decent numbers and think that they'll just increase as the migration gears up.
I'll get crackin on introducing/handling pups. If everything goes to plan, I'll be getting a new pup this year so I might have the opportunity to turn this in to an ongoing series from start to finish.
For the most part we are iced out in Eastern Ontario....a few birds who missed the cue to go south on some open water
We shot 3 hooded mergs tonite and saw a bunch of woodies and some teal and mallards late
