The current administration in the State of Maine is proposing that the rules for building near waterfowl habitat in the state should be “relaxed” in order to streamline the process of obtaining a permit to build on or near sensitive waterfowl habitat.

Eared Grebes Mistake Walmart Parking Lot for Lake

St.George, Utah has something to talk about today.  Thousands of Grebes making their migration south were injured and some killed after they mistook a walmart parking lot and football field for lakes.  Volunteers from the area are boxing up injured birds and bringing them to water where they can heal.  A Grebe can heal well if it stays on the water where food is plentiful and does not have to fly.   Approximately 1,300 hundred birds were killed possibly more.
