He asked me the "BIG" question that everyone just starting to duck hunt wants to know but is afraid to ask for fear of sounding stupid.

Waterfowl hunting in high winds can pose a challenge. Consider your strategy and increase your success.

Every duck hunter loves having birds locked onto the decoys at 20 yards on a nice sunny day, but those hunts are far and few between. Most great hunts are when the migrating birds are riding the front down from the north, taking advantage of the strong winds. On those strong wind days making it to your spot can be tricky enough, especially if you are hunting big water, but once you make it to your spot, making sure your decoys are set up right to allow the birds to work for you is your next challenge.

The Making of a Hand-Made Call

Finished DD CallSo I was in the shop tonight making a few barrels for some calls that I need to get finished so I thought I would record it and share it with you guys/gals it's a little long but I hope you enjoy. What you don't see in the video is cutting and drilling of the blank. I hope to record doing an insert soon and will post that. This will kind of give you an idea of what goes in to making a hand-made call.

 

Here is a video of me turning and sanding a Babinga duck call barrel.

January 2012 Update:

Ok guys finally got around to making the final two vids about making this call. There is some thing that I am keeping secret I hope you guys under stand. In the first video I show how I make the second half of my inserts. I am keeping my casting process secret at this time. The second video I show how to tune this call in to a double reed. If you have any question just ask. Thanks.
